Aleka Polis

Aleka Polis is a graduate of the University of Silesia in Cieszyn. Artist. Feminist. Activist. Experimenter. In her realisations Aleka uses video, digital photography, painting, performance, urban guerrilla, creates animations, documentaries, objects, manifestos. She co-creates with others on a temporary and long-term basis.

 

She transforms life into art and art into life. She addresses themes of identity, subjectivity, power, exclusion, and social inequality. Her major works include "Bestiary of the Subconscious", "Matrix", "IBM Dedicated", "Wartopia", "Rosa Rotes" protest series, "Error in Space-Time", "pre- and post-revolution landscapes".

 

She has participated in numerous exhibitions in Poland and abroad. From 2004 to 2014, she cooperated with OBIEG magazine, where she founded the first in Poland vernissage television OBIEG.TV. For several years she has been working with people in crisis of homelessness and people with intellectual disabilities.
